Richardson Electrical is a family run business, established for more than 60 years, providing a complete electrical service to a broad customer base throughout the UK. Contracts range from Mains Distribution Substations, Standby and UPS systems, Data Cabling and Structured wiring, through to Lighting Systems, Fire Alarm and Safety Systems. We work closely with our clients and all associated parties, listening to their requirements and ensuring that each project is completed on time and within budget. The pride we take in our work is reflected by the loyalty of both our clients and staff, many of whom have served over twenty years with our company.
We pride ourselves in maintaining the traditional ethics of a family run business, training and taking care of our experienced workforce to ensure a professional, efficient electrical service for all our customers.
We also believe passionately in nurturing home-grown talent with 95% of the workforce starting out with the company as apprentices. At any one time we have around twenty young people progressing through formal training schemes to provide skills for us in the future. We are committed to social responsibility and the future of electrical engineering. Our commitment to, and compliance with, all aspects of the company is fundamental to our business ethic, and we operate Quality Management Systems which are independently audited by NQA.
The administrative support and structure that comes with JIB membership helps us to streamline our processes. The aims of the JIB are very much in line with our own commitment to compliance and team development. This includes Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality matters and the attainment of accreditations that demonstrates our commitment to excellence.
“The JIB agreement removes a large administrative burden from our company and provides a consistent and structured basis for employment of electricians and apprentices. It also helps to maintain standards of training within the industry.” – Nick Richardson, Director
“Since being in school, I wanted to choose the apprenticeship route as opposed to traditional higher education such as university. I am a practical learner and therefore taking a practical approach to learning best suits my skills and helps me to develop
The advice I would give to someone who aspires to complete an electrical apprenticeship is to research the trade and opportunities it can open to them. If you are a practical learner, I would recommend you apply for an apprenticeship as you gain on the job experience which cannot be taught within a classroom environment. The skills you will learn on site are invaluable when completing your studies, as it allows you to put the theory work into a real-life setting.
Working for a JIB registered company provides a great framework, easily accessible information ranging from employment rights to additional benefits as standard such as healthcare provisions, training and much more.” – Brandon Crossland, Richardson Electrical Apprentice
