The JIB attended six Elex Shows throughout 2024, journeying from North-West to South-East England to meet with professionals from the electrotechnical industry.
Roger Horne, Head of Membership presented at every show, on how JIB membership can secure the future for your business. He said: “It is rewarding to be able to share how JIB Membership can help with local and national challenges in the electrotechnical sector. Elex offers the chance to reach businesses, of various sizes, in each location. It is helpful to hear about the benefits members really value – for example the HR solutions which are highly rated by SMEs. We are always keen to hear from current and potential members about how JIB can help them succeed.”
Andy Reakes, Director of Growth and Development at the JIB and ECS, also spoke at all six shows about how ECS helps to raise the bar on standards. He said: “The Elex Shows provide us with a unique opportunity to talk to electricians and employers around the country. Being there in person to present on the latest developments for competence standards, address any questions, hear feedback and discuss how the ECS is helping to resolve issues on a local level, is always valuable. This year it was really encouraging to see so many people interested in new qualification routes to ECS cards – such as the Experienced Worker Assessments. We also saw an increase in interest and enquiries about evidencing the competency of the workforce with ECS Check, which is a positive sign for project safety and security.”
Members of the team were also on hand, at the JIB and ECS stand, to help with any queries about JIB membership and ECS cards. Martin Thurbon ECS Contact Centre Operations Manager said: “It is great to get out to meet with ECS card holders, and those who currently don’t hold a ECS card, to answer any questions they have about the scheme. It gives us the opportunity to explain the benefits of ECS for those new to the sector – including apprentices. It’s a great way to demonstrate how the scheme works and we had some valuable feedback about recent improvements to online assessments and card processing. We can also spread the word about the funding available for upskilling through the JIB Skills Development Fund – which many employers were keen to learn more about.”
