New look ECS cards for the Network Infrastructure sector

Those in the Network Infrastructure sector may notice a new look to their ECS card when they next renew.

There is no change to roles or responsibilities associated with Network Infrastructure cards, but on some, you will see that the title has been split into an occupation and a grade. The occupation shows the discipline in which someone is working, in this case Network Infrastructure Installation. The grade shows the level of seniority they have been assessed to, such Trainee, Assistant, Installer or Advanced Installer. ECS cards will also continue to show the route taken to qualification i.e. copper and/or fibre cabling or a generic route.

The changes reflect the way minimum standards for terms and conditions are recognised under the JIB collective agreement and the work undertaken by the ECA and Unite the Union to update an industrial relations framework agreement for the sector.
